Men and women are at odds with each other when they are not aware of their differences. We become angry with the opposite sex because we have forgotten this truth. We expect the opposite sex to be more like us and we desire them to want what we want, feel the way we feel; these attitudes set us up to be disappointed over and over again.
Men mistakenly expect women to think, communicate, and react the way they do while women mistakenly expect men to feel, communicate and respond the way they do. Recognizing and respecting these differences dramatically reduces confusion when dealing with the opposite sex. Men and women's values are different; men usually mistakenly offer solutions and invalidate feelings while women offer unsolicited advice and direction. Remembering our differences can correct our mistakes and we can immediately respond to each other in a more productive way, (Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus, John Gray, Ph.D).
