Parents sometimes need guidance toward constructive, education oriented interaction with teachers and administrators in their children's school. Some parents are not always clear about what their children are learning in school and some parents lack a vision of what the schools should provide students.
The efforts of each school should be to enable children to build upon what they learn at home, but to the extent of the classroom learning environment. Know your child's school's intentions (mission) and your child's responses, which is better for any child's overall education.
Children often can't communicate how their day went or what they learned for that day; often, some choose not to. Try to find out what your children understand and what they don't. The goal is to make parents' exchanges with their children at school and learning more enjoyable--a mutual treat rather than a mutual burden (101 Educational Conversations with Your Second Grader, Vito Perrone, Harvard University, 1993).
