The digestive system fulfills many important functions inside the body. "CHI" is the aliveness, life force and energy. The body has natural patterns of "QI" associated with it to circulate in channels called meridians; there are natural foods and herbs available to eliminate toxins by cleansing the lymphatic system.
Hot Water & Ginger Root as a detox:
Starting the day with hot water and lemon/ginger root improves digestion, boosts mineral absorption, and detoxes the body.
Note: in the process of improving digestion, the citric acid can cause stomach pain and cramps
Citric acid improves absorption of aluminum hydroxide (an active ingredient in most antacids). The acidic nature of lemon juice supports the optimal acidic environment in your stomach, in some, it could have the opposite effect.
The Vitamin C enhances mineral absorption. Other sources of Vitamin C include: bell peppers, kale, strawberries, broccoli, and spinach, etc. With this, reaps enhanced absorption of minerals at meal times; also, kiwi and brussel sprouts.
In lemons, there is an antioxidant called d-limonene also found in oranges and most highly concentrated in the peels of lemons & oranges. D-limonene activates enzymes in the liver that are part of the Phase I and Phase 2 detoxification process. These processes take compounds present in the liver that are toxic to cells and convert them to non-harmful, and less harmful versions. It may work to ease GERD (gastroesophogeal reflux disease), but does not require supplementation.
Vitamin C helps to produce carnitine, a molecule that helps the body burn fat and energy--muscle carnitine levels (shape.com).
