To Seek Balance and Resolution-To Fulfill Unmet Needs
Worry is not a friend, the worries of our children can overtake us, as it did me in the past. If you are a worrier as I was, learn to let it go. Its not easy and it takes practice like developing new habits; try putting your concerns into perspective. Safety was always a concern for me when I became conscious and sensitive to my surroundings, living in a big city and noticed how carelessly we walk through life, not paying attention to what's important; for example, I became increasingly conscious of taking shoes off before entering my home and how the dirt and germs from outside can fester in your floor/carpet and resides there for how ever long, which can turn into an entirely different health concern if you walk barefoot in your home, as if we need anything else to worry about. Environmental health and cleanliness is just as important as mental, emotional, physical, financial, and spiritual health. Life lessons are the most challenging for some because we as adults have been there and done that and any normal parent would want their child to grow up healthy, balanced, and functional, sadly some don't. Kids need guidance, but enough discipline and independence to grow and mature and not be controlled and smothered. As parents, we can only do the best we can and trust that the rest will come as it may. ~Rochelle Payton and Liz White (Article in Atlanta Parent Magazine, March 2015).
