Spiritual Maturity & Marriage
Marriage is a part of God's plan. Maturing is expressed in the handling of our freedom in Christ. We can choose a path other than sin and we are free to escape the consequences of our sin because of Jesus Christ.
Maturity in a Christian marriage assumes commitment, communication, and Christ as the foundation of this unique relationship. Marriage continues to disentegrate in culture and maturing in a Christian marital relationship is different from those who are non-Christians; it is different in function, but not in structure and the tension lies in who we are and what God has called us to be.
Maturity finds more satisfaction in giving than receiving. Christian stewardship is not just a matter of managing money, it's in managing everything that comes in our path: time, talents, and resources. Painful experiences in our lives serve as our instructors and can be useful, for nothing is wasted (Experiencing God's Pleasure, David McKechnie, 1989).
